When we consider doing something that is most likely out of our comfort zone, we often make excuses to avoid the experience. It is normal human nature for us to make excuses. Doing a boudoir photo shoot is out of the comfort zone for most women who come to my studio. Many have busted the excuses, pushed past their fears and enjoyed a boudoir photo shoot.

I wanted to share some of the most common excuses that I have heard and bust them up for you! You can do this! You deserve to be seen.

“I don’t have enough time for myself”

We can take a lesson from our airlines, “Put on your oxygen mask first before assisting others”. It is vital that we care for ourselves first before we can fully help the ones we love. This includes taking care of our mental health. I’m guilty of not putting my mental health on the top of priorities as well. That is why I wanted to share this with all of you. I make the same excuses as many of you. I need someone to remind me so I am reminding you, “take the time, give yourself a break and breath.”

During a boudoir photo shoot you are given the opportunity to breath and enjoy time just for you. You use up so much mental energy comparing yourself to others and worrying what others think. You get a few hours to just be yourself and see your beauty in a way that you may not have before. Let go of all that mental weight you carry around.

Enjoy time for yourself, you need it. Why not spend it having an amazing time and getting to see the beauty you possess?

“I’m not where I want to be weight wise/I don’t fit the media’s idea of a good enough size”

Most of the models we see in the media only portray 5% of actual American female body types! What? ONLY FIVE PERCENT!

I will continue to shout it from the rooftops… you don’t have to be a certain size in order to love yourself. You don’t have to fit the specific 5% of what is portrayed in the media in order to enjoy your body and celebrate it. You don’t have to fit a stranger’s idea of “perfect” in order to LOVE your body. Why compare yourself to others, when each body is made unique?

It is important to be healthy and have goals to improve your health. That is vital to your self-care and taking care of the body you were given. But it doesn’t mean you have to hate your body in the process. Be proud of you, your story, where you have been and where you want to go. Have a boudoir shoot to celebrate where you are now and then have one to celebrate once you reach a new milestone.

“I’m don’t feel sexy enough so a boudoir shoot might not be for me.”

Nope. You’re WRONG.

This is actually the exact reason you SHOULD do a boudoir session.

During the busyness of life, it is easy to lose sight of our own sensuality. Many things take up our time and life can get crazy with our work, health, family, that is normal and its ok. We need to take the time to find ourselves again. A boudoir photo shoot can do just that, the spark that can show us our beauty and view yourself in a new way.

If you are worried about what to wear, just remember that a boudoir shoot doesn’t have to be all about lingerie. I always tell my clients that you can wear whatever makes you feel amazing, powerful, sexy and glamourous.
