Baltimore Family Photographer
As a newborn and family photographer, I’m fortunate that I get to practice my creativity in many different ways. But I will be honest, there are many different areas where I love to create and yet I don’t make time for it. Why not? I could give you a million reasons… taking care of my boys, enjoying time with my husband, laundry, running my business, grocery shopping, making our house a home, cleaning, involved at church, and all the other myriad of reasons that life gets busy.
I love creating. I always have, but I have not always nurtured that part of me. Yes, photography does help fulfill my creative side but I also have other creative desires that I don’t even touch anymore. In high school and college I enjoyed painting and pastels, but that has long since been put to the wayside. Why? I don’t know.. life gets “busy.”
Then the other day I ran across an article that I found intriguing about a book titled “The Fringe Hours” by Jessica N. Turner. It is all about “empowering us to take back the fringe hours – those little pockets of time in order to make time for your passions and practice self-care.” Perfect. I need that! Maybe you do too? Life IS busy, but we can’t let it over run us. Our family needs us, but they also need to see us fulfill our passions so we can be a better wife, mother and friend.
I bought two books, one to read and one to share. I want to give away a copy to someone who may benefit from reading this too. I hope to report back over the next few months on how I’m taking back my fringe hours and reconnecting with passions that have been shelved for too long!
