A Beautiful Experience with Annapolis Underwater Maternity Photographer

This gorgeous mother from Annapolis almost headed all the way to Florida for her photo session… fortunately her sweet husband kept looking, connected with me ( an Annapolis underwater maternity photographer ) and we captured these beautiful underwater maternity photos.

Meeting incredible people and passions embrace

These gorgeous parents wanted to create unique maternity photos that would so beautifully capture their passions:  (1) their first baby and  (2) their love for the water.   He works on the water, they live on the water, their nursery is nautical themed… it made perfect sense to dive in and allow an Annapolis underwater maternity photographer capture her beautiful baby body.

 A love so deep

I could tell they loved one another so deeply as we moved through the session.  He was so attentive to her and always sneaking in kisses between shots, so sweet.  She always calling to him with kind words and pet names, they are truly made for one another.  Even though it was a cold winter day outside, they certainly know how to turn up the heat.

Although she is very comfortable in the water, she was still nervous about how the session would go.  I certainly understand, it is a bit unique to be floating around with someone taking photos of you in a pool.  I gave her a few simple tips to assure she relaxed underwater and didn’t look like she had “puffer fish cheeks”  Very quickly she got the hang of it and we soon pulled her husband under the water for a few shots too. 🙂

Safety First – my first concern as an underwater portrait photographer

This session took place in a pool where the deep end is under 5′ deep, even I can stand in that!  But before the session:

• I gave my safety talk
• Checked the pool for any unsafe items that might hinder our session.
• I also assured her that even though we are under for no longer than a minute, actually usually less, that at any time she felt out of breath or any other discomfort to let me know.
• I’m continually asking how she feels and checking to make sure she is always comfortable.

A unique underwater photo session

I always work to customize a session in big or small ways for each of my clients, an underwater maternity session is no exception.  As I got to know them I knew she loved bright colors, except for red (no red allowed!) 😉  Plus she was having a little boy we wanted to incorporate a bit of blue too.  She had some ideas of how she wanted the images to look – relaxed, beautiful, modern imagery to match their love for one another and their soon to arrive son.  I’m so excited that they loved them all and thoroughly enjoyed our session and time together, truly warms my heart.
