A Day in the Life with My Boys – our family photos
My hubby and I feel so privileged to be blessed with these two boys! They are the light of our lives. Quinn and Gavin are 4 and 2. It is such a wonderful age because they are really starting to play and enjoy one another. Yes, they fight and get on each other’s nerves but that is normal.
I love having beautiful family photos, but I also cherish the everyday moments. These are the times they (and I) will look back on and remember most. Its these family photos I hope to one day pour over and look back to remember all the fun and antics we did as a family together.

A Day in the Life
Hence, my little project, a “Day in the Life”. I simply picked up my camera and didn’t put it down until almost dinner time. My boys are used to mommy with a camera (or taking photos with my camera) so they just went about their day as normal, which is perfect – just the way I want it!
I almost didn’t do this project for myself. I thought, these are not “normal” days. We are in a temporary apartment with rented furniture until our house is ready, Marley (our dog) doesn’t live with us so we go over to my brother-in-law’s place to walk him each day, I don’t know this area well yet, blah… blah… excuses… excuses…
These are OUR DAYS…
right now! This is our life now. We are not promised tomorrow, we must enjoy today. Love our family and friends today. Live our lives to the best of our ability today! (that was a pep talk to myself as much as anyone else) I miss my friends, my Chicago, my neighborhood, my neighbors, my condo… but I know my family is meant to be here and I’m excited for our new journey.
Here is a little run down of our “normal” day…
- Breakfast mixed with finger paints, always a great idea!
- We took Quinn to camp, so Gavin and I headed to Target for some necessities and of course the inevitable items that I never knew I needed until they ended up on the checkout belt! (i.e. superhero masks)
- Gavin and I then went to the Farmer’s Market in Towson, Maryland.
- After we picked Quinn up from camp, we then went to my brother-in-law’s place to take our dog out (and play with some toys)
- Then back to the apartment for naps and an afternoon snack
- We finished off the day with bed jumping contest – of course – doesn’t everybody?
My Challenge to You
Take photos of your kids doing normal everyday things for one whole day!! I know it may sound daunting, but I KNOW you will love it! I would love to see one of your favorites, please share your “everyday life” photo with me on my Facebook page or you can email it to me (shayna at shaynahardy.com. If I get at least a handful, I would love to feature them on my blog in a few weeks.
Have a joyfilled day,
Shayna

Finishing off the day with a bed jumping contest, doesn’t everyone?
